Carolyn, Thanks for the explanation of the range of visual impairment, truly. I did want you to know, however, that I've been "at the dance" of working with the blind and visually impaired on a regular basis since 2010, so none of this is new. The descriptions you give are generally the kind of response I get to my friendly, but impolitic, "How blind are you?, question. I know how to ask in the more clinical fashion, "What would you like to tell me about your vision?," but I really have found the general reaction to the impolitic question to be one of general amusement and relief of a sort on those I've used that form with.
There have been a lot of good ideas on that thread, and I'm grateful to have had the kind of participation that's occurred. I'm just sending this privately because it really doesn't add anything that I feel like sharing with the cohort at this juncture. Brian
