Okay, officially:

Apps key "menu search box edit"
Shift+F10 "context menu C Cut unavailable"
Ins+F10 "running applications list"

I then switched to the laptop layout in JAWS, and all the results above are
identical.

Windows 7 32-bit
JAWS 17.0.1337
Del Latitude E6410
NVIDEA NVS 4200M Display Driver

Using Microsoft Natural keyboard connected via USB
Using JAWS desktop keyboard layout

BTW when using the embedded laptop keyboard:
Apps key "menu search box edit"
Shift+F10 "arrow context menu C copy unavailable"
Ins+F10 "running applications list"

Subject: How does JAWS announce your Application/Menu Key versus SHIFT+F10
versus INS+F10?

There seems to be some unexplained (but probably not unexplainable) reason that
JAWS is announcing control key or key sequence strikes differently.

Rather than trying to go back and filter through "the mega thread" I thought
I'd make a request for data collection here. If you are willing and if the
keyboard you use includes an applications/menu key, I'd like to know the
following:

When Applications/Menu Key is pressed, what does JAWS Announce?

When SHIFT+F10 is pressed, what does JAWS Announce?

When INS+F10 is pressed, what does JAWS Announce?

What version of JAWS are you running?

What version of Windows, including whether 32 or 64 bit, are you running?

What is make/model is your computer?

Perhaps a pattern will present itself.

Brian
