The old blind tunes scripts do not work with iTunes 11. The new scripts had to be totally rewritten to support the new UI. iTunes is a monster and I agree it can be very slugish. I have a windows 8 system running a celeron processor and believe me, I have to wait a couple seconds after hitting tab to hear anything. Thank god it is just a testing model otherwise I'd throw the thing out into the street.

Which versions of iTunes and Blindtunes? I tried them with Jaws 12 but had the
same issues; I found myself tabbing through a bunch of choices, like search
music library, go to iTunes store, edit, etc. Sometimes Jaws was silent or
hesitant as I tabbed through the controls, giving me no idea what I had
selected or what had current focus--like I was in a blank field. I can't
access the sources sidebar or treeview like I used to with control+shift+s; the
only item it shows is music, r doesn't bring up the radio option. What
happened to the former functions, where I could select radio and open a
treeview showing different genres and stations covering those genres? I could
pick a station of my choice on the fly (once I discovered it and could remember
the station name) by opening the treeview and typing the first few call letters
or part of the station's name. These functions seem to have gotten disabled
somehow when I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and/or Blindtunes. Thanks f
or your continued observations.

I sent this the other night but got no response. Do you know if the
Blindtunes scripts still work with any version of Jaws? I can't afford
upgrading to the latest version of Jaws; besides, it creates more complications
with my braille display functions. Thanks.

   Subject: more complications with iTunes

I uninstalled iTunes with Revo Uninstaller and tried to download a new
iTunes from the Apple web site; but after the installation was almost finished
I got these error messages:

The older version of Apple Software Update cannot be
removed. Contact your technical support group.
   OK
   iTunes

Errors occurred during installation before iTunes could be
   configured.
Your system has not been modified. To complete the
   installation, run the installer again.
Click Finish to exit the installer.
   < Back Finish Cancel

I clicked "finish" and proceeded to uninstall Apple Software Update and some
related programs. After that I went to Downloads and installed the new version of
iTunes, as well as an earlier BlindTunes, but didn't find iTunes as accessible as before.
I landed in a group of buttons such as Search, Music, Store, etc. I couldn't get to the
Radio tree view by selecting Sources (control+shift+s) followed by R; it just showed a
list of options to purchase from the store. So I uninstalled iTunes again and tried
downloading an earlier version, but got an error saying a file couldn't be read because
it was created by a newer version of iTunes. (See below.) Any ideas why iTunes has
become less friendly with Jaws (I'm staying with Jaws 9.0 for accessibility reasons), or
how the Radio feature got disabled? Thanks.

I have heard this error before. You will have to uninstall and download
the latest from the apple website. This is most likely the issue.

I tried checking for updates but got the following error:

your Internet connection, or try again later.
     OK

I have several versions of iTunes or Blindtunes in my Downloads folder.
I'll see what I can do. Thanks.

I would uninstall and download the latest from the site. Are you running
the latest scripts?

No, every week I get an Apple software update prompt, and I ignore it.
I found that later versions of iTunes aren't as Jaws friendly as earlier
versions. I remember trying to update and getting an error message like the
update couldn't be completed or contact the web administrator. Thanks again.

Tonight I opened iTunes to play something on the radio, but whenever I
open the tree view for each genre to view stations to choose from, I get this
error:

         graphic 0 iTunes graphic 0

Check your Internet connection, or try again later.
         OK

My Internet is connected, but no matter how many times I try to find a
station this message is repeated. What caused this, and can it be fixed?
Thanks.
