Go to Word options. Take a look at display. There are various checkboxes. You probably have spaces and paragraph marks checked. Uncheck those, and it should make things better. The heading announcements probably are coming from JAWS. Change this in the settings center if you want it to apply to all documents. Let me know if you need more detail.

Let me know, and I'll try to help. -----Original Message----- From: Jfw [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Tom Behler via Jfw Sent: Monday, May 19, 2014 11:04 AM To: 'The Jaws for Windows support list.' I need to turn these unnecessary announcements off in order to effectively read and edit documents. Don't mean to be a pest here, but this problem just cropped up this morning. Subject: Question On Stopping Jaws From Announcing Paragraph markers and other Headings Hello again, everyone. I have recently noticed that in Word 2010 files, Jaws now announces paragraph markers and other headings. Although this info can be helpful, it is very annoying when trying to read through an entire document. I have some instructions here that tell me to use insert V for Jaws quick settings, and to turn new lines and paragraph settings off in the editing options, but this only works for the document I'm currently in. Is there a global setting via which I can turn the paragraph and heading announcements off completely for all MS Word documents? I am not sure how these announcements got turned on, so I have to believe a global adjustment to Jaws can be made somewhere. I'm using Jaws 14 with Windows 7 and office 2010 here.
