Hello Judith,
Perhaps I have missed a letter in this thread, but I have to ask, "Why do you not download for free one of the Vocalizer Expressive voices of your choosing from the FS web resources site, or several for that matter, and create a voice profile as instructed in the voice profile link in the Jaws help menu?" If you would like further instructions as to following this path please ask.
Cheers Kevin.

Hi, I jjust did everything you suggested including setting the voice to the
default and I still have that awful female voice. She reads the punctuation
sign , as doma. Since I'm a writer I find the announcement of punctuation
helpful but this voice is messing me up. She even mispronounces letters
like N wrong. I'm wonder5ing if I should change to narrator. Thanks,
Judith

Judith,

The only sappi voice I have available on my computer is a female voice
called Anna and she is pretty awful. Have you tried the Eloquence voice?

Eloquence is the default voice for Jaws. If you want to try it, bring up the
Jaws screen then press alt F. Arrow down to voices and press enter. Press
enter on voice adjustments. You will be placed in the profile menu. I
believe the top selection is eloquence. If you haven't adjusted the rate
etc. it will sound pretty slow. But the rate, amount of punctuation and
other parameters may be adjusted if you like the quality of the voice.

I like eloquence very much and I use it on all my computers running jaws.

I hope this is helpful.

Kimber

I'm trying to change the jaws voice from a female sappy voice to my
old friend Reid, a male voice. The female voice doesn't enunciate
letters in a way I can understand. I get confused with letters like M
orN. There used to be a keystroke that would give the name of the
letter and give examples of words begun with that letter. Does this
keystroke still exist? If yes does anyone know it? Also if you can
help me get Reid back I would be most appreciative. Thanks, Judith
