Hello.

You need to do three things to accomplish what you want to accomplish. Go
into word and make sure that the application-specific voice profile is set
to the default profile. To do this, you should open word, while focused on
word, you should press "Jaws key + control +S" this will open the select a
profile combo box. You will have two combo boxes in here. The first combo
box sets the default voice profile and the second one sets the
application-specific voice profile. Right now we want to make sure that all
of your applications are using the default profile. Meaning that you should
hear "for Microsoft Word 2013 combo box. Use default". Once you do this
for all applications. You should make sure that the default profile is set
to eloquence.

Hi, Ted, I don't kmnow if you read my message on Friday, but while I'm an
old hand using jaws, I'm mnot a tecky. The voice I have now is Anna and I
can't stand her. Along with pronouncing comma as domma she can't pronounce
Brooklyn. I can't begin to list the other words she mispronounces. I can't
access other voice profiles from my Jaws menu, at least as far as I can
hear. Can you give me a link to the voice profile menu on line? Than,ks,
Judith

Judith, can you find the eloquence profile on your machine? You've already
referred to Reed, so I know you have it. You seem like an old hand, so I
gather you know what I'm talking about. If you can land and enter on it, I
think you'd be more than half way home. Besides, the Nuance voices come on
your JAWS disk, and are easy to install. without a lot of downloading.

Ted

Hello Judith,
Perhaps I have missed a letter in this thread, but I have to ask, "Why do
you not download for free one of the Vocalizer Expressive voices of your
choosing from the FS web resources site, or several for that matter, and
create a voice profile as instructed in the voice profile link in the Jaws
help menu?" If you would like further instructions as to following this path
please ask.
Cheers Kevin.

Hi, I jjust did everything you suggested including setting the voice to the
default and I still have that awful female voice. She reads the punctuation
sign , as doma. Since I'm a writer I find the announcement of punctuation
helpful but this voice is messing me up. She even mispronounces letters
like N wrong. I'm wonder5ing if I should change to narrator. Thanks,
Judith

Judith,

The only sappi voice I have available on my computer is a female voice
called Anna and she is pretty awful. Have you tried the Eloquence voice?

Eloquence is the default voice for Jaws. If you want to try it, bring up the
Jaws screen then press alt F. Arrow down to voices and press enter. Press
enter on voice adjustments. You will be placed in the profile menu. I
believe the top selection is eloquence. If you haven't adjusted the rate
etc. it will sound pretty slow. But the rate, amount of punctuation and
other parameters may be adjusted if you like the quality of the voice.

I like eloquence very much and I use it on all my computers running jaws.

I hope this is helpful.

Kimber
