How to creat a shortcut to kill JAWS:
1. Have your focus on the desktop first. Then press the application key to
open the context menue that you get when you right click on the desktop.
Optionally use the right mouse button, assigned to the *key of your
computer's keyboard to get here.
2. Find the "new" menue item. Once you are there, find new shortcut list
item. Then press enter. In the edit field you get in the wizard that
follows enter the following:
%windir%\system32\taskkill.exe /f /im jfw.exe
Name your shortcut and click "Finish". This should make your shortcut to
kill JAWS.

However, it will still "disappear" occasionally during other simple
operations like switching from one window to another, or one application
to
another. Have not yet had it happen often enough to pin it down. When it
does happen, JAWS does not automatically restart like it used to do. I
must
either blindly hit my "kill JAWS desktop shortcut and hear a ding, or use
NVDA to get to the shortcut and do the same.
Then I can restart JAWS 16.
Using the latest version, Win 7, 32-bit.

Latest version of jaws has improved quite a bit. I'm not having any
problems with it crashing on the internet.

I tend to agree. Seems that JAWS is crashing less often in Internet
Explorer.
