Wouldn't you know, I was curious and went to the Jaws synth page and
Japanese was an option for Vocalizer Expressive. VE voices are really quite
good. I use American English, Spanish Mexico (Juan high premium) and play
with German as I am trying to learn that language. I'm sure Japanese is of
similar good quality. They apparently offer two options; Kyoko and Otoya. To
my ear, they sound fine, but that's a subjective thing.

Hi Kate,

I believe Nuance has a voice named Kioko that you can download and use with
JAWS.
Just go to help and more voices from within the JAWS menu.
This will open up a website where you can navigate to Japanese by heading.
You can listen to a voice sample and download the voice from there.
As far as Braille in Japanese is concerned, I don't really know much, let
alone how to enter Kanji or other symbols.
I think a Japanese version of JAWS is available, but no idea how recent it
is.

Regards,
Nermin
