Well, there should be only one, but that does not mean that there is only
one. The one that counts is in the root directory, and will have a sys
extension. Sometimes when installing things they wil make backups of the
config.sys, but they will have a different extension, but if somebody were
to be careless, and not check extensions, then they could configure the
wrong one. Since in windows, one does not have to use the extension to
bring up a file, that could be easily done. Now, that would not happen in
dos, because you have to use the extension.
