I haven't had any problems updating fw recently, but I have had a couple of instances in the past couple of versions where the Jive wireless strength has gone blue and the handset locks up. Re-booting via the home key brings it back up and restores wireless reception. I haven't had any reception problems previously and both the handset and AP are in the same place, so I just wondered if you have changed anything wireless recently, and if it's related? I don't use any wireless security.
