I would eventually really like to be able to scan through tracks with the wheel. Pressing the << or >> once to active it, then using the wheel - much like you can do with the volume. It might be easier to implement from a programmer point of view if nothing happened until you pressed the centre button, which caused the playback to start from there (getting the sound to sync with the speed you turn the wheel would obviously be a nightmare).
