Not too many, but here goes... (1) There's no way a non-geek would be able to install this yet. Hopefully the install for production units will be idiot proof, but there are so many steps where you could make a small error and consequently stall the process. Add in the upgrades to firmware whilst you are installing, and it would be incredibly daunting for someone who isn't comfortable around WiFi and firmware upgrades. I had to read the manual, which is a bit of disaster in itself, because as a rule, people don't. I understand why Sonos do their own network, it does simplify one of the harder parts of the install.
(2) I got confused when the receiver reported itself as "Squeezebox 2" since I have a Squeezebox 2 in the other room. I was expecting to see "receiver" or "duet". I haven't tried both on yet to see what they announce themselves as. Of course I can rename it, but for the out of the box situation with a green user, it would be good to be absolutely obvious about components. (3) Big lag on volume setting. I would it right up, then a couple of seconds later a blast of sound from the speakers! (4) Sounds a bit "restrained" when compared to Squeezebox into the same MF XDAC3 converter. Can't explain that at all, but it just doesn't sound as dynamic or exciting. Perhaps it's a volume thing. I was expecting it to be indistinguishable, so I need to get the SB2 back int he room to do a more direct comparison. (5) It does work pretty well, but is still sluggish at times. I wish more was cached on the controller, like artwork, long playlists etc. (6) There's no hourglass or other visual cue to tell you it's loading a long playlist or the library, so you're not sure what it's doing and hence you click buttons lots of times and then get a flurry of reactions at the end. A bit of user experience testing is in order. -- CardinalFang ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CardinalFang's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=962 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43293 _______________________________________________ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/jive
