Read some the specs for yourself (taken from the box): * Samsung 200 MHz ARM processor * 64 MB NAND programmable flash * 64 MB high-speed RAM * 3-axis accelerometer tilt sensor * Removable 1250 mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery * Flash upgradeable firmware * -*High fidelity 24-bit Wolfson DAC*- Notice the last one? I seriously doubt that kind of chip resides inside of it just for the click and startup/shutdown sound effects! ;-) The fact that there is a headphone jack (not to mention an infrared transmitter) on the Controller eludes to the fact that the hardware is there for additional functionality. Slim/Logitech made a conscious decision to not ship with these functionally activated due to reasons which will remain elusive, but more than likely just not enough time to develop the functional software. Plus, to add value in the form of a potential future update. They may choose to charge for such an update or not - who knows... The cool part is, essentially, -*anyone who bought the Duet got 2 Squeezeboxes*-. The Controller possesses the hardware to pretty much be a portable one, given the proper Firmware to activate the 24-bit Wolfson DAC and headphone jack. -- EnochLight ------------------------------------------------------------------------ EnochLight's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3392 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42987 _______________________________________________ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/jive
