I have no insight into the Slim/Logi folks thinking, but I am sure that
the time to design, implement and test the software for new features was
a major concern. if you look at the number of folks doing beta tests
(just browse the forum) and the number of quick releases of the
software, it was a huge effort to get it out.

Getting consumer software through QA to buyers is a really big deal. If
I was in charge, I'd have turned off some really cool features as well.

There is tons of potential here. As 'light said about the obvious
hardware potential, plus LUA/OS is designed for extensions and plugins.

Here is a secret: the Controller is a personal computer with WiFi. Sure,
its not the world's fastest CPU, but its plenty fast. And you can stick
a 2GB sd card in it.

I wrote Windows programms professionally on a computer with 5MB of RAM
and a 200 MB disk. The Controller is tons more computer than the one I
used in the olden days. It starts with 128MB of memory.
