You're right about Settings>Advanced>About not working, I just tried that to prove which version I was running. Trying the software update option tells me that I'm currently running the latest (R2114). When I say the volume doesn't work, I mean that the bar graph works but the player volume doesn't change. Actually that could be handy for those 'turn that damn music down monents :-) )
