I'm in the same boat. This happens with the controller beta unit I got last fall, mac 00:13:E0:A1:D8:4D.
With the 2nd gen controller, sent out with the beta receiver this spring, I haven't seen this crop up. This unit has a mac address of: 00:04:20:1A:02:3C.
