STOP PRESS: Instead of actioning the update from the Software Update prompt screen I went directly to the Settings/Advanced/Software Update screen an initiated an update from there. This time it worked and I am now running 2287.
So I wonder why it failed 5 times from the automatic Software Update prompt when it appears to be (and do) exactly the same thing as the Settings/Advanced/Software Update screen?
