I don't understand what you mean by "the mix plays fine", given the previous statements - doesn't sound like it! I've found that I tend to get empty mixes unless I first "kick" the MIP server by visiting its web page (http://localhost:10002 or whatever). This seems to be needed even if I "just" hibernate the server. It's a pain since I can't do it from the Controller. Sometimes when I try to play a mix (usually from the webiface, using Fishbone) nothing will happen. I can press the Play icon as often as I want, it just won't do anything (except perhaps replace any previous playlist with nothing). I don't think this has happened for a while though. As for "spinny things", it could be that SC is having trouble finding the associated artwork; or it could be that it's having trouble finding the file itself. I have found that sometimes MIP has stale refs to files that no longer exist; when one of these gets into a playlist, SC just skips it.
