The first replace is a fix for IE, the second for Netscape, and the third (maybe?) for macs. Needs testing to be sure.

They should be stable and should work fine on your IE.
Under your 'Tools' menu you should find two interesting things.
Tools -> Sun Java Console
and
Tools -> Internet Options... -> Advanced -> Java(Sun) -> Use Java 2 v 1.4.* for <applet> *SHOULD BE CHECKED*

Not sure if you heard the recent news RE: microsoft and sun settling issues RE: java. SO windows doesn't come with a jvm by default. The above link will install the JVM for you.
