By 'strange effects' I think you mean the *bumps* on the surface. That is a side-effect of the way that I am drawing the trace. I agree that it is undesirable. However, I spent most of a day trying to get rid of them and was unsuccessful. Therefore, I decided to quit working on it and keep thinking about it until someone comes up with a better idea of how to render it.
