Thanks Timothy.  A rather fuller recipe for anyone using Mac would be

1.  Go to /applications/utilities/java/J2SE 5.0/Java Preferences.app

and in the box labelled  Java applet runtime parameters, paste

-Xmx128M  (or whatever is appropriate). 

2.  Empty the browser cache, restart it and when  Jmol loads, in
the  About JUmol display one will see  (actually) 127M  displayed.

But a quick question.  This for a dual processor machine.  Is this
64 Mbytes PER processor?   With 8-processor machines about to
hit us,  will this be an issue for any lucky owners of such machines?
