Trace should not be a problem. I suspect that Roger may have implemented Trace after strands ... and strands needs the other backbone atoms. Cartoon probably will be a problem. The calculations need to use the C=O orientation in order to know the plane of the residue. There are several reasons why this is needed ... including the calculations to determine the center axis of a cylinder (However, note that this calculation is *not* being done correctly these days).
