Because I use light colored backgrounds for the Jmol applet, I want to change the monitor color to red (from the default white). When I include =22color monitor red=22 into the applet script line, it has no effect. It only works if I first define a monitor: =22monitor 2 3;color monitor red;monitor off=22. From now on monitor labels appear in red. Is this intended behavior, shouldn't =22color monitor red=22 be sufficient?
I understand and can live with Miguel's explanation.
A related question: for the same reasons, how do I change the color of the lines and labels used when one interactively measures distances, angles, and dihedral angles? I need a darker color to contrast with a lighter background.
