I have reproduced the problem here using a download of Nick's page.
Switching to 11.1.32 solves the problem. 11.1.31 should not be used,
as it was a first attempt at dynamic language setting and had a number of
flaws, including this one. For me, at least, 11.1.32 solves the problem.
