I agree that this is something that is (sadly) lacking and also not likely
to happen in the near future. I have been receiving lots of requests for
Jmol/PyMOL style functionality on -- particularly -- the iPad, but there
really is nothing available that is up to the task. The iPhone app
"Molecules" is a nice demonstration that the devices have the capability,
but that particular program is not aggressively supported or in any way
flexible enough to do anything other than display a molecule.
Until Apple (read, Steve Jobs) can work out their issues surrounding java
and Flash, we are all sort of stuck. Perhaps the rising tide of Android
competition will inspire a bit more flexibility.....
