Dear Otis,
E. Other:
I do not expect users of my Jmol web pages to run them locally, nor do I
support that.
However, when I'm developing a Jmol web page, after each edit, it is
convenient to reload the page, displayed in a browser from local files,
to see the result (and debug). Currently, on OS X, Firefox seems to be
the only browser that will display both Jmol_S and JSmol from local files.
Regards, Eric

I'm putting together a presentation, and I have a question about an
issue the comes up from time to time on this list. Specifically, there
are questions related to running Jmol locally. Since my main interest
is small molecules, I have moved totally to JSmol, but I'm interested
in general answers to this multiple choice question:
Why do you want to run Jmol locally?
A) I have local data files that I need to load, BUT I have nothing
against requiring user Internet connectivity.
B) I have local data files that I need to load, AND I want to free my
user from Internet connectivity.
C) I want my Jmol pages to act like double clickable applications that
do not require a server, BUT I have nothingagainst requiring user
Internet connectivity.
D) I want my Jmol pages to act like double clickable applications that
do not require a server, AND I want the Internet totally out of the
picture.
E) Other
Thanks in advance for any replies...
Otis
