I have also seen this problem in some pages, not in others. I haven't 
been able to track it down (lack of time).

Although the correct HTML5 header is what Bob showed, I doubt the 
html doctype line will have an effect on this problem; the browsers 
are very forgiving with that. I rather suspect a CSS conflict.

"overflow:hidden" in the body is essential in these pages (FGiJ as in 
my "resizable panels" template), to be able to have fluid resizable 
window and panels. It might be related to the problem, but should not 
be changed.

Bob, if I remember correctly, the JSmol popup menu div is being 
inserted outside the body tag. I felt uneasy about this; could it be 
the source of trouble?
