Hi,
Just wanted to chime in as a current user of Jonas and future user of Enhydra that
this is great news for the free software community. Hopefully the combined enterprise
server will be as easy to install and get running as the Orion Server,
http://www.orionserver.com and eventually have tools similar to the J2EE reference
platform(too bad the reference platform only works on Win32/Solaris as we use Linux).
If the integrated http and servlet container/JSP is production ready, we will deploy
on this platform as soon as it's ready. Our EJB will follow closely. Currently we
deploy using Apache/JRun (currently 1.0 JSP not 1.1 and servlet 2.1) which is too
difficult to configure/ maintain on Windows,AIX,Linux etc so we are looking for a
100% Java solution.
We also have need for virtual hosts in our http server which makes things even harder
to maintain for our support.
Hope this helps,
Eric :-)
