Every so often, I go into the drafts folder and see
what I've forgotten to send. I'd like to share some
thoughts about a thread that appeared a few weeks ago
about love. Please bear with the ramblings my heart as
I try to give voice to what I feel.

Several of Joni Mitchell's songs take us on journeys
of the heart, on a quest for the meaning of love, what
love is and what love is not. Love could be compared
with the ocean, sometimes calm and still, sometimes
wild and furious. Standing on that shore, hand in hand
with the love of my life, that is the place where I
feel most at peace. For me, there is no place like it.
I know I have finally come home.

In a song such as Love which reflects in its own
image, some of the aspects of love, facilitated by a
visit to one of St Paul's letters to the Corinthians
(right Rev Vince?) in doing so, I feel that Joni
invites us to take a look at what love means to us.
Now and then.

In my life I have seen many sides of love. In St
Paul's letter, a notion is raised that love is indeed
many things...Paul writes that love is patient and
kind and not envious and so it goes.... sounds pretty
ideal to me, sounds like the up side of love. Love is
not always easy and all those good things mentioned.
Sometimes love takes patience, work, committment,
perserverance, the ability to see beyond the 'now' and
look toward 'then' as that never ending beacon of
brilliant light.

perhaps love is all these things and it is love that
fortifies us to endure the toughest things in our life
and thereby allows us to feel joy which is so often at
the centre of that precious gift of love.

leaves me speechless, moved to the core. truly
magnificent. Love is.

Mags, looking forward, to then.

And this loving is a drawing close,
a tuning in, an opening.
Until one perfect moment;
but how can it be expressed?
A receiving, an enfolding
as I cradle you in my arms.
Within my heart, within my soul,
You are my true love.
