To all my friends on the JMDL, Well, my year of personal challenges is continuing. Sunday night, I went to a Halloween Party with a friend - he was dressed as Willie Nelson and I went as a clown. We both happen to like Karaoke (goofy, I know), and every Halloween for the past 5 or 6 years, our wives let us go out on our own, to whoop it up, and sing a few songs. Anyway, when it came time for the costume contest, they had everyone come up on stage from the left side. They then had us walk off the front of the stage. I was actually the first one to go off the front of the stage, and after stepping off with my right foot, I realized how far of a drop it was (about 20"). In order to compensate, I pivoted on my left foot, and as soon as I did that, I heard a loud snapping sound. To make a long story short, I ended up rupturing my Quadracep muscle - in essence, detaching it from the knee. A trip to the emergency room that night, led to a visit to an Orthopedic specialist on Monday morning, and by 1pm on! Monday afternoon, I was headed fo r reconstructive surgery.
The surgery went great, but I will be spending the next three months in a full length leg cast, and hopping around on crutches (I can't put any weight on my left leg for 2 to three months). I'm still coming to grips with all of this, but thought I would let everyone know whats going on with me. Jack
