Get a pair of brand new wash clothes and pin one around the part of the top of the crutch where it will press against your side below the armpit. That extra level of cushion is very important for preventing pain and bruises. I learned that from a friend who was crutches after an accident; he taught me when I was on them for a year,
On the bright side - and you must find a bright side - using crutches is great upper body exercise. After my year on crutches, I had the most wonderful upper body like I've never had before or since. Gees, was my chest stunning! Also crutches burn a lot of calories and I was as slim as I always wanted to be - 28 inch waist. The one leg was of course a bit atrophied but with that chest and waist and hips, who cared? :-) I know how frustrating it is, but then again, you can get a handicapped parking sticker now just in time for Christmas shopping! Jack, it is all in the attitude! (the Rev) Vince, formerly known to my friends as "crip"
