I don't remember that skit but Sandra Bernhardt did a hilarious bit in her
show a couple of years ago where she played Christine McVie playing in some
lounge, chilling out after all those years with the Mac. She talks about
Stevie hitting her in the face with the fringe of one of her shawls while
Stevie was doing one or her twirling routines. You had to be there.

I never got into the pre-Buckingham Nicks Fleetwood Mac much so I don't know
that much about that phase of the band. But I always liked Stevie's voice &
songs from the Lindsey/Stevie years better than anyone else's in the group.
(There were a few of Christine's that I liked almost as much but overall I
thought Stevie's writing was more interesting.) Especially 'Landslide' and
just about all of her songs off of 'Tusk'. 'Sara' used to reduce me to
tears every time I heard it. 'Beautiful Child' and 'Storms' are gorgeous
songs and that gravelly voice is an integral part of what makes them work,
imo. Curiously enough, I was never that impressed with her songs on the
Mac's big blockbuster 'Rumors'. I have a bootleg record where Stevie does
an amazing version of 'Rhiannon' that ends with her howling like a banshee
and is followed by a wonderfully intimate 'Landslide'. I bought her first
two solo records and thought they were kind of inconsistent. Liked parts of
them but wasn't hog wild about either one of them overall. So I kind of
lost interest. Never bought another Mac album after 'Mirage' either except
for the greatest hits cd and 'The Dance' which I got mostly for 'Silver
Spring'. That is another gorgeous Stevie song, imo.

I don't know that I fit into either the 'I love Stevie' category or the 'I
can't stand Stevie' group. I do really love some of her stuff. Then there
are other times when I think she's ridiculous. Her voice is unique and with
the right song & the right production she can be something close to
brilliant, I think. Not brilliant like Joni, but she does occasionally have
something going on that I like & admire. She has a definite persona that
she projects that plays into it, I think. If that persona appeals to you,
you will probably love her. If it doesn't, you can probably take or leave
her. I fall somewhere in between, I guess.
