I've found Aussies very American-like, too.  Maybe from sharing the similiar
"pioneering" frontier experience in the wide open spaces.

Interesting - From my limited experience, I'd tend to say the same.  My
mother had her first visit to England and France a few years ago and had a
100% positive experience.  She just raved and raved about how friendly and
wonderful the people were in both countries!
