Suze, I never liked this song either. But I also was in grade school when it came out and remember some alternative lyrics to this song that I thought were funny. Do you remember when "streaking" was the new fad in the early 1970's? Well, this is what I remember of the lyrics:
"We have joy, we have fun, we have streakers in the sun, but the cops, they have guns, and they shot us in the buns!" Does anyone remember the rest of these silly lyrics? When it came out in '73 I was in grade school still, and all the kids adored it. I found it grating and offensive to the ears.
