As I was listening to President Clinton I was again greatly impressed with his ability to think broadly about complex problems. That's so different than the simplistic "good guys vs. bad guys" thinking of our current leaders, thinking that's jeopardizing our existence. As an American such arrogance and ignorance embarrasses and frightens me. Clinton talking about the next great psychological leap that people need to make in this now interdependent world -- to take pride in one's own group's heritage and at the same time appreciate the heritage of others rather than be threatened by it -- was fascinating. Although it sounds obvious in the retelling, Bush would never come up with something like that, so could never help bring such a leap about. > He spoke of many other things as well but I don't have the heart for a > political debate so I will leave it here. Me either. I'm tempted, but I'll leave it here too. Debra Shea
