Seems to me the mere presence of westerners in Muslim countries is now being interpreted as some form of aggression by extremist Muslims (whether Al Quaeda or not). Same thing happened in Egypt a few years ago when tourists were shot. Not only is this disregard for human life, but also for the local economy which often strongly relies on tourism.
Was actually contemplating going to Bali or Egypt next year, but we chose the North Pole instead: statistically fewer risk of running into an extremist group over there. Although one never knows. Laurent
