Seems to me the mere presence of westerners in Muslim countries is now being
interpreted as some form of aggression by extremist Muslims (whether Al Quaeda
or not).  Same thing happened in Egypt a few years ago when tourists were
shot.  Not only is this disregard for human life, but also for the local
economy which often strongly relies on tourism.

Was actually contemplating going to Bali or Egypt next year, but we chose the
North Pole instead: statistically fewer risk of running into an extremist
group over there. Although one never knows.
