Actually, I seem to recall, (but am totally incapable of recalling where), 
that it was Graham who wanted a more traditional relationship and Joni who 
turned him down.

And that makes sense to me since the institution of marriage did not help her 
save her child and plunged her into wounds that produce some of the most 
poignant songs ever.
