Kakki, please share your intuitions with us, flamers or not. Your intuitions & reflections based on your knowledge of so many historical details are always very enlightening. Anyone who is offended by these musings ought to consider finding a creative outlet for themselves. I have always been so drawn to the photos of Joni & Graham, especially the one in the car where she is writing & he is looking on. There is something so sweet there between them that is relflected in her song, Willie, and in his song, Our House. I also hear it in way she sings "I Love You" in Blue. ******************************************** Kate Bennett featured this month at Taylor Guitars www.taylorguitars.com/artists/awp/indies/ www.katebennett.com www.cdbaby.com/katebennett www.amazon.com ******************************************** -----Original Message----- From: Kakki [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, October 11, 2000 12:35 PM To: Kate Bennett; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Blue Kate wrote: > TA DA, c Karma & Leslie M win this round! Yes, that is >what I heard--That Blue was about Graham. I would have never guessed it was about Graham, either - and also think that on the surface it seems more to fit James Taylor or Crosby. But thinking about it, it does make sense to me now and also confirms a few intutions I've had, but which I hesitate to say on the list because I'm weary of the offlist flames I've been getting for daring to discuss Joni's lyrics as if she is a real person. > I don't know if Graham ever had a drug problem, I don't think >he did. He sure stood by Croz when he was in trouble & tried >everything to help him. Graham's support and loyal friendship to Crosby throughout his trials and tribulations has been well-documented. From my understanding, Graham did drugs but never had a problem with them, but he was surrounded by many who did, and especially put in a lot of time trying to get Crosby off them. I've mentioned this before, but it may relate to the song Blue if you think about it - the CSNY biographphy, Graham takes the responsibility for the ending of his relationship with Joni. He claims that he was off too much with the boys and touring with CSN and did not put as much time and devotion into the relationship as he should have. "Crown" = make me first in your life, and "anchor" = be a stabilizing influence for me, be my rock. Kakki
