Being the proper Canadian, I can enlighten you about HP Sauce. It is the
British version of Heinz 57- like a steak sauce that contains
worcestershire sauce, molasses, fruit- not sure what else. The Brits seem
to eat it w/everything. It is favoured by the Royal family, and has the
Royal crest on the label, which means that it is the official sauce of the
Royals.

Hope I got it correct! I'm sure the British JMDLers will correct me if I'm
wrong!

Regards,
Stephen in Vancouver

Marmite is another brand of that brown stuff you spread on bread, usually
known as Vegemite. I don't know what HP sauce is. The Tudor House is a
little store in Santa Monica that sells all kinds of products from the "old
country" for the British Isles ex-patriates who live there. At one time
Santa Monica had the largest population of English and Scottish people in
the U.S. outside of the U.K. and I think that stat still holds.
