> Brown stuff? Brown stuff?! Marmite is wonderful! And >never compare it with Vegemite, which is awful (people >either love Marmite and hate Vegemite, or vice versa - there >is no middle ground)! It's made from a yeast extract, and >the taste is very hard to describe. Quite salty, and a bit like >beef tea if you've ever tried that. You can actually make a >kind of broth by mixing a spoonful with hot water - we >always used to have it when we were sick as kids. Yum! Oh Hell, I'm a dork - of course that's it! And I always thought it sounded delicious - I'm very much one for anything beefy and brothy! Please know that I didn't mean "brown stuff" as a perjorative term - I just didn't know what else to call it! > HP Sauce (according to the label) is a "A blend containing Vinegar, Oriental Fruit and Spices". It's kind of like a steak sauce, and is really nice with chips (sorry, fries). A friend of mine won't eat anything from a frying pan, unless he's got HP sauce to go with it - and yes, he's British! Now my mouth is really watering - this sounds great. I haven't been through the Tudor House since I was a little girl but I'm going out that way to meet a jmdler for lunch tomorrow and think I will pay a visit! Kakki
