<<If Bob's bank is anything like mine, the giant
financial creature considers checks in much the same
way as a Florida undervote ballot.>>

Don't get me started on banks! The bank that I've been using for the past
16 years was bought and consolidated with another one, and now the service
charges are going outta the roof!

Checking used to be free, now there's going to be an $8/mo. "maintenance
fee".
I had overdraft protection, now they charge a fee everytime it's drawn.
I was paying $1/mo. for unlimited debit card use, now there's going to be a
.40 charge everytime I use the debit card!

Anyway, the bottom line is that I'm going to switch banks. Fluor has an
alignment with a local bank that offers the whole gallery of services for
no service charges. The hassle is now all the things that direct deposit
and draft from my checking account are going to have to be transferred. I
hope it's less complicated than I think it's going to be.

Time was, changing banks was simple...you closed out your account, took
your money & ran. Now it's a much larger animal. Anybody have any
bank-changing experiences they want to share to either reassure me that
it's no big deal or scare the hell outta me?

I guess money *IS* the root of all evil after all! ;~)
