actually. what i meant was that he was absolutely the last person i could
imagine singing a joni song, let alone woodstock (at the time the only
joni covers i knew were Amy Grant's BYT and Matthews Southern Comfort doing
Woodstock:-) i don't think that "appropriate" was the right word to use. i
wasn't even thinking of what the song says; merely the fact that it *was* a
joni song. now, however, i've heard all sorts of strange and wonderful
interpretations of Joni's music and am more open to them than i iwas at that
time.
i didnt really like his version. but then i never really liked him (not due
to my sisters OVERplaying of two of his songs!) so was probably biased in
that way to start with. i should have listened to it again, i'm sure it
would have grown on me, as a lot of Joni covers do
