Unfortunately this is still the case. Have tried to buy sevral HDCD's recently. I 
always
ask the staff to show me the disc first. NONE of them had HDCD on them.

Whilst on this subject, another pain the arse is trying to buy a dvd. So many shops 
here
only have empty dvd cases on display. they keep the disc in a cardboard sleeve in a
drawer. I have not yet bought one because I always ask to see the disc before I buy.
Everytime they have been badly scratched and filthy. I have so far only bought still
shrinkwrapped dvd's.(isn't shrinkwrap also a pain? Like trying to open a safe 
sometimes)
