I feel your pain :-) Hopefully, this will soon be a thing of the past,
although smaller stores may have to keep the old system of empty cases
and cardboard sleeves in drawers. HMV, Virgin, Tower and the software
chains/supermarkets are almost completely shrinkwrap-only now. Thank
goodness, I'm the same with refusing to buy less than immaculate discs.
It was the same with CDs...oh, the hassle I had sometimes!

Have you considered buying online at one of the major e-retailers?
