i bought the European HDCD of STAS a couple of months ago. it
definitely is HDCD. it has the tiny logo on the back and the
artwork is the restored version by Robbie Cavolina. the disc
doesn't have the HDCD logo, but it's the brown Reprise design
unlike the old version. the code on the disc centre ends with
"02/00" which i believe is the time the remastering took place.
more importantly, there is a clear improvement in sound. i think
the 'fake' HDCD's all had a big sticker on the front, stating
'HDCD' clearly. this one only has a small silver sticker with
'newly digitally remastered from the original master tapes'. i've
also seen a similar 'real' HDCD of Clouds.
