Don't take this the wrong way, Kurt, but I found your site to be very
negative about Joni. To read comments like:
"The Pirate of Penance makes absolutely no sense and the title track just
drones on and one. The entire metaphor of a seagull representing freedom is
just too bJohn Livingston Seagullb to really make any sense as anything
other that a tired clichC)."
as well as your brutal skewering of much of her body of work is just tough to
take.
Plus, there are LOTS of spelling errors (Carey referred to as "Carry", among
others) and some out & out falsehoods. (Rolling Stone did NOT call HOSL the
year's worst album, but rather the year's worst album COVER.)
Anyway, after looking at it, and reading it all, I have to ask why you even
bothered. If you really only like 5 or 6 of her records, delve into those and
leave the others for those who appreciate them.
I may say some negative things from time to time, but there's a difference
between saying something in a discussion forum and creating a website that
can be accessed by anyone.
When you said that Hejira's title track (which I consider one of the greatest
compositions ever) should have been left unsung, I had steam coming outta my
ears!
Really took me by surprise...while I appreciate the effort, I question your
intentions. It's not like we don't already have access to unbelievably good
Joni resources.
