The beach we used to go to when I was a child always had these "ripples" on
the sand - I used to love the effect, especially when the sun was low in the
sky, and you'd get the shadows working as well.

But could this lyric also be referring to the biblical "woman was made from
Adam's rib?"  The fact that she says "ribs at his side" always made me think
of this.

I love this as well, and I love the fact that there are several of these
discussions happening at the moment.  I tend not to analyse Joni's lyrics
too much, but it does make things more interesting.  And the Only-Joni
people must be loving it!
