wow! that was 24 years ago and it was a "save the whales" benefit. i
remember fred, joni, graham, and crosby was there among other players. it
was a free concert and they pack, literally, pack memorial auditorium to the
gunnels. joni didn't play till near midnight and she did a duo with fred.
i think the common thread between the two was creatures of the ocean and
mutual respect between joni and fred. i know fred neil is not very well
known, but in the 60's and 70's he put down some pretty good music. it's
really too bad he has become pretty much forgotten. here's to all the fred
neils and michael bloomfields, may more people listen to them. later gene

p.s. can't ever recall joni doing any of fred's songs

pps i doubt very much if the benefit was recorded. the sound quality that
night was really really really bad. great vibes though!!!

relationship, and if there are any versions of joni doing any fred song
available.
> I know that they did the Sacramento benefit in Nov 1976 together, and
that Joni backed Fred on the Dolphins. I beleive there is a tape of the joni
set. Is there anyone out there whod be willing to trade for it?? Does anyone
know if the Fred set was taped as well???
