Hi Patrick,
Yes, you're right..I do like Radiohead...quite a lot, in fact. Creep was
the first hit of any great magnitude for them here, although only after
it had been a US Top 40 success. I think the song made them feel a bit
sitgmatised as part of the "loser" college-band angst scene, and they
distanced themselves from it pretty quickly.
Their next album, The Bends (1995), was the one which really established
them as a genuine force, both artistically and commercially. It's a
marvellous record, and still one of my all-time favourites. OK Computer
built on the promise of The Bends, although I'm perhaps in the minority
for still preferring The Bends over OK Computer.
Then, of course, came Kid A. Hmmmm. Not sure exactly what I make of this
one, even after almost 6 months, but it's ambitious if nothing else. I
always enjoy listening to it, but once it's over I cannot recall any
individual tracks.
