That's true.  They've done studies that indicate that young children
are not able to determine that what they see on TV is not real.
While it's great for adults to say "Hey, I listen to Eminem and I don't
wanna go out and strangle my girlfriend", it's alot different if you're a
10 year old latchkey kid in a single parent home, and you and your
friends think he's a cool guy.  They just aren't going to get that he is
singing in character (if that is what he's doing, and it's not an excuse--
I mean Hitler could have said he was doing performance art, too...).
I don't believe in censorship, but question the marketing of this stuff
to young kids, which is what MTV has done.  The MTV demographic
is preteen and early teen kids, and they promoted the hell out of
M&M (whose name is also candy..but I digress again)...for their
own gain and without any responsibility, IMO.

PS Has anyone heard Christina Aguilera's "Will the Real Slim
Shady Please Shut Up?"  It's a hilarious parody/putdown/answer
to the sexist stuff he said about her in his song.  Napster, while
they last....
